Vegan Orange Creamsicle Treat

When you look at this cutie, what comes to mind?🧡

I thought of an orange creamsicle, 🍊 my favorite ice cream treat growing up! If you’re not familiar with the coveted orange creamsicle, it was simply a vanilla ice cream bar on a stick covered with a thin layer of orange popsicle. I used to love getting half-way through eating it because by then, the flavors of orange popsicle and vanilla ice cream were merging and blending in a yummy swirl of summer of goodness!

I created this recipe one night out of desperation for something sweet, creamy and good. When I tasted it, it brought me back to that yummy half-way point of creamsicle goodness! See below!

What I love about this recipe is that you DON'T need fresh oranges or other produce on hand. This is made from staples you keep in your cupboard and in your freezer, which means, as long as you keep these stocked, you’ll have the stuff to make this treat for those necessary orange creamsicle moments! 🧡

In a blender, blend until smooth:

  • 2 cups of unsweetened almond milk (can use coconut, cashew or other non-dairy milk)
  • 2 cups of frozen mango
  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1 tsp orange extract
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • dash of himalayan pink salt

*If you prefer your treats more icey, add ½ cup of ice to blender

Makes 2 generous servings to enjoy eating with a spoon...and a friend!

💌LOVE NOTES:
-I use Simply Organic brand extracts, which I love.

-Why not just use fresh orange juice? Well, you can! But for the intense taste I love, you’d have to use quite a bit of orange juice which then changes the texture of the treat, which is why I opt for organic orange extract and frozen mango.

-I keep bags of frozen organic mango from Whole Foods in the freezer. Because they freeze these a bit early, they have just the right amount of tart you might get from fresh oranges and the natural color! If you use freshly frozen mango, it will have more a mango flavor.

-Ripe bananas are wonderful to keep in the freezer! Normally, anything you add banana to will be screaming of “banana!” But because we’re using orange extract, it’s all orange and just the creaminess that the blended bananas provide.

Now whose mouth is watering?😋
