Create Your Own Happy List!

Recently, my friend Lindsay shared the work of Laura St. John with me. Laura St. John is a 'celebrity mindset coach' and the creator of "The Happy List."

With everything that’s happening, I found myself reaching for my Happy List A LOT and I thought it might be helpful and fun to share with you.

A Happy List is much like a Vision Board, but...

...instead of primarily using images, you write out words (pictures are welcome if you like to draw!)

What I loved about this direction is that it felt much easier to tackle and create a Happy List (writing out words on a piece of paper) than creating my new Vision Board for the new year (I’m old school so that was cutting images and words from magazines and pasting them on blank poster board).

Having said that, I don’t think a Happy List is a replacement for a Vision Board, but each complement the other amazingly well.

Don’t forget that our subconscious mind takes in images and pictures which is what makes a Vision Board very powerful!

So why even create a Happy List?

The purpose of a Happy List is to have quick access to see all the things that make you happy, that raise your vibration.

It’s for those times when you’re just tired of being overrun by your emotions and need a lift.

Let me be clear - this is not to bypass any emotion.

By now, we all know that never works!

But if you’ve been feeling all the feels, and now you need a good lift, go to your Happy List!

Here are my observations after creating a couple of my own Happy Lists

  1. I find that just the act of sitting down and writing anything and everything that comes to mind that makes me happy starts to shift my mood and therefore, vibration.
  2. I also find that looking at my Happy List generates a warm feeling of gratitude for my life, the people around me, and everything on the list!
  3. When I start my day with looking at my Happy List, I find that I’m primed to look for the good that day, instead of focusing on what’s not going well.
  4. I’m thinking of dedicating a notebook to my Happy Lists, plural, perhaps one page for each day, and using the tool daily. So instead of writing a gratitude list, I’ll write a Happy List!

Want to create your own Happy List?

  1. Grab a piece of paper and a pen or a set of favorite pens/colors. You can do this on any paper, a pretty blank card, or even digitally (I use the Goodnotes app and like it)
  2. Write your name at the top - “______________’s Happy List!”
  3. Then use your favorite pen, fun colors to write anything that comes to mind that makes you happy!

And that’s it!

To wrap this up, I'll just acknowledge that yes...

The Happy List is so, super, simple

Which means it's super accessible; so easy to do!

Just do it!

It's also low stress...to the point of being no stress...or even negative stress, once you get into the flow of it!

Simple pleasures.

They're one of the keys to enjoying life.

They're one of the things our cats teach us, right?

So please, I encourage you:

Enjoy your sun patch!

And enjoy your Happy List!

Hi Lori! Lmk what you think! Also, I was thinking it might be fun to create one for our cats…if we were thinking how they think! Maybe you could make one for Asa and Ari too! I’ll let you know if I do one for Bear!
