How To Use Crystals With Cats
Guest Post by Julie-Anne Heart
Note from Siena: You never know what the Universe will bring you! Julie-Anne Heart is a fellow cat lover all the way over in the United Kingdom. But somehow we found each other and today I'm happy to give you a Guest Post by Julie-Anne, complete and intact with her British spelling and turns of phrase! It's a wonderful thing, how our love of cats – At The Level that only we in the 'Club' really get – can bring us all together. Of course, as a responsible cat guardian, we know that crystals are not cat toys. Do not leave cats unattended with crystals, especially crystals small enough to be swallowed..
In this blog, Julie-Anne Heart, soul activator for cat guardians from Naturally Cats, empath, author and cat mum, shares with us how to use crystals with your cat. This gentle, healing modality can help to support your cat with their health and well-being.
And now, here's Julie-Anne!
Why use crystals with cats?

Everything in this world is made of energy, from your clothes to your cat!
Although we can’t see it, energy is all around us and we are made up of it. What powers your digestive system? What helps your cells to heal and regenerate?
Energy.
And it’s the same for our cats.
When the delicate balance of energy in our cat’s body is out of balance or alignment it can lead to emotional challenges such as anxiety, behavioural issues such as aggression, or physical problems such as vomiting.
Each crystal has its own frequency, and although there are hundreds of different crystals in the world, it will benefit your cat the most if you pick crystals that are the same colour as the seven main chakras.
Crystals and chakras
To enable you to know which crystal to offer your cat I need to tell you a little about chakras.
Chakras are invisible energy centres that transmit energy between the cats’ physical body, their aura, and environment.
They unite all levels of being for the cat.
Each of the seven main chakras are associated with a specific colour and it is certain coloured crystals that will support the needs of your cat.
For example if your cat is vomiting they may need help with their solar plexus chakra which is connected with the colour yellow.
If you’d like to find out more about cat chakras and their colours take a look at my blog: What chakras do cats have?

Here’s a high-level overview:
- Root – Red – Red jasper, Ruby
- Sacral – Orange – Tigers eye, Carnelian
- Solar plexus – Yellow – Citrine, Sulphur
- Heart – Green/Pink – Peridot, Rose quartz
- Throat – Blue – Sapphire, Lapis lazuli
- Third eye – Indigo – Blue lace agate, Sodalite
- Crown – Violet/White – Amethyst, Moonstone
Benefits of using crystals with your cat
When you use crystals with your cat you are changing the dynamic of your relationship, as you highlight the fact you are aware the cat has energetic needs. This deepens the connection that you share, and it brings your cat a sense of autonomy.
Offering crystals to your cat and using them in the methods I’ll come on to share, allows your cat to clear, cleanse and balance their complete energy system. You give your cat power over their healing.
Crystals can alter the frequency of the physical, mental and emotional bodies, empowering your cat to release their stress and reduce their anxiety, along with soothing physical pain and discomfort.
How to use crystals with cats
There are 3 core ways that I like to use crystals with cats.
1 – Water infusion
Ensure that your crystal can tolerate being in water (some such as selenite don’t take too well to being submerged) and leave your cleansed crystal in a bowl of filtered water overnight. This creates a crystal infusion as the energetic imprint of the crystal is embedded in the water. Then leave this water down for your cat to self-select. They may drink or ingest the water; some may simply sit near the bowl.

2 – Put them on the floor or bed
Your cat may want to experience the frequency and healing energy from a crystal in a more direct manner than through the medium of water, so you can put the crystal on the floor and allow your cat to work with it, in whichever manner they need. You may see the cat sit or lie with a certain body part on or over the crystal – this shows they are literally putting the energy of the crystal into their chakra. Some cats may play with the crystals, and this is also allowing them to feel the flow of the frequency.
3 – Meditate with them
I don’t know about you but my cats, Leo and Baby Max, will often come and lie with me when I am meditating. When we meditate we are not only changing our brainwaves, but we are also altering our unique frequency. Crystals can help and support this in our bodies and our cats’.
If you don’t like to meditate simply sit quietly with the crystal in your hand or next to you and focus on your breath. I’m sure your cat will want to come and join you if they need to work with a particular crystal or chakra. Enjoy the quiet time with yourself, your cat, and the crystal. You can hold the crystal in your hand, place it on your body (if that feels right for you), or pop it beside you.
Do’s and Don’ts of Using Crystals With Cats
- Ensure all crystals are regularly cleansed to remove dense, heavy or unwanted
energy. - Enjoy using crystals with your cat – be part of the healing and have fun!
- Allow your cat to show you what or where they need to work with the crystal.
- Always ensure you have natural, clear, unaltered water down for your cat alongside crystal infusions.
- Don’t leave cats unattended with crystals if they are small enough to be swallowed.
- Don’t put crystals on your cat’s bed as you don’t want to displace them from a safe space.
- Don’t put crystals in, on, or near the litter tray or food bowls. Remember – give your cat a choice about how and when they interact with the crystals. Let them go to the crystals as and when needed.
- Never force your cat to work with a crystal or infusion.
